No matter what your fandom is, I’m willing to bet fanfiction exists for it. Now, imagine that instead of reading fanfiction for your favorite novel or show, you could listen to it instead.Danmei Podfics With Gem is a mature, 18+, podfic podcast dedicated to turning Chinese "Boys Love" (BL) fanfiction into audio gems.This podcast celebrates transforming inclusive, Chinese LGBTQI+ fan-written works into accessible stories. It’s an appreciation for small, talented writers and artists simply doing what they love, for fun and NOT FOR PROFIT.By me voicing stories written for fans, by fans, I get to amplify stories I love in hopes others will fall in love with them too, and explore the danmei genre.All stories have been recorded with the permission or collaboration with the author. I also aim to highlight a different author for every story I read, along with a different illustrator to design episode art. You can see a full list of writers & artists I've collaborated with under Collaborations.My podcast is me giving back to my fandom community. By taking my stories out of typical fandom spaces such as Archive of our Own and putting them on a streaming service via my podcast, I get to reach a wider audience of listeners, story enthusiasts, and Boys Love consumers.

What's Podfic?

Podfics are the "audiobooks" of fanfiction.Studies have also shown fan fiction is a great outlet for identity exploration for queer folks. I aim to create a safe space for fans to fall even more in love with the content they enjoy and for folks to feel safe in exploring their identity.I podfic my favorite stories I've read. What's Danmei?

Danmei (meaning obsession/indulgence in beauty) is a genre of fiction produced in China that centers around male-male romantic and erotic stories. It is a 25 billion yuan ($4 billion) business. Despite its growing popularity, the genre faces severe state censorship in its origin country due to its same-sex romance and erotic content.
